In the Still of a Mama's Morning

This morning I sit quietly
Drinking in the silence
Reflecting in the peace
Enjoying the calm

This morning is still so young
Yet to be touched with voices
The darkness of night slowly fading
Into a very soft light

Oh how I love the sounds
Of a busy day
Of children laughing, learning, loving
Happily at play

But oh what a gift
Is the still of the morning
When one's own thoughts can be heard
And the breath of God rises and falls
Rises and falls

My Father gave me this gift
This gift that I so often choose not to embrace
A gift that could mean the difference between
A good day
And a day that is not so good

Thank you Father
For this gift
For the still of a mama's morning
